Back in the Bay and back in Blue

Thirsty Whale Napier City Rovers are excited to announce the signing of Hawkes Bay Local Ben Lack and the return of Sam Lack for the 2024 National Central League.

Ben, who Hawkes Bay footballing locals will know from his time as a youngster with Napier Marist and also making his national league appearance with Hawkes Bay United in 2018 as a 19-year-old, has arrived back to the Bay after 5 years down in Wellington.

Over those previous 5 seasons, Lack spent a small amount of time with Miramar Rangers before heading across to Waterside Karori where he was an integral part of the Central League side as captain in 2021.

Bill Robertson, who has seen Ben’s progression over the years from his time here and also when he played against the blues, feels Ben will bring dominance in his role

“He is a physically strong and composed defender who returns to his home region after a few years away playing Central League in Wellington captaining Waterside Karori.”

“Ben knows the league, he knows what it takes to perform at this level and this will add a great dynamic to our squad”.

With Ben returning this also sees him reunite with his younger brother Sam Lack who is returning for the 2024 Season.

Sam is coming off the back of a promising and standout 2023 season for the Blues. The young attacker will look to continue to build on 2023 and develop to continue his impressive performances for the Blues.

The club is excited to have this local brotherly pairing for the 2024 season.
