Back in Blue

The Thirsty Whale Restaurant and Bar Napier City Rovers is excited to announce the return of Stephen Hoyle in a role that will see him assist head coach Bill Robertson and also as a player to bolster the squad for the 2024 National Central League.

Hoyle first arrived in Napier back in 2012 when singing for Hawkes Bay United so was no stranger to the football fans of the region.

It wasnt until 2014 after seasons in Canada that Hoyle joined the Blues to help the club win the Central League in 2015 before heading north to WaiBop United and then down to Canterbury for 3 seasons from 2016 to 2019.

Since then Hoyle now 31, has seen success in Auckland with Eastern Suburbs both as a player and as a coach, but the prospect of playing some more football with his brother and captain James Hoyle is also an exciting time for both brothers.

With an unique style and approach to the game Bill Robertson knows the time away from the club, having Hoyle back will bring a high level of experience and professionalism.

“Steve is an experienced National League player who will add value on and off the field as we look to set new and exciting foundations within the squad”.

“With a history of success at Napier City Rovers, we have seen Steve take that winning menatility to the other clubs he has played for, so to now have him back in blue is exciting for years to come”

Welcome back to the blues Steve.
