Club History

Napier City Rovers was founded on the 6th of February 1973 by an amalgamation between Napier Rovers AFC and Napier City AFC.  The club has grown from strength to strength since then.  Once upon a time players left Napier to join bigger clubs and increase their chances of gaining full international honours by being selected for the NZ All Whites.  How times have changed as now Napier find themselves as a stepping stone for players to gain NZ All White or NZ Under 23 honours, such has been the success of the team over the last 20 odd years.  Boasting a ground and administration set-up second to none in New Zealand, with constant results leading to League and Cup honours.  Napier have been able to attract top players from around the country, as well as pushing through real talent to keep Napier at the top of the ladder in New Zealand Football.
